Who We Are
Being a follower of Jesus is not about being religious, or following a whole bunch of rules. Choosing to follow Jesus and recognising him as King of all creation is something that shapes everything about our lives - and so it is not simply 'what we believe', but who we are!
We are created by God for Good.
Our entire worldview is shaped by recognising that the world that we live in and everything in it was created by God, including humanity. God had a special purpose for humanity - to look after his creation, and live in good relationship with him as our King.
We are damaged by sin
Unfortunately, since the beginning of time, humanity has failed, choosing instead to try and control our own lives, and ignoring God. Ultimately, this is sin, and leads to breakdown of relationship with God, and separation from him.
We are saved for better
By ourselves, we can't fix this problem - but God loves us so much that he fixed the problem for us. He sent Jesus to become one of us, to live life as it should have been, and to take the punishment that we rightly deserve for rejecting God. And so Jesus died on the cross. But he didn't stay dead - God raised him to new life, and has promised the same for all who put their trust and hope in Jesus, and choose God as their King.
We are looking forward to all things being made right
God has promised that Jesus is coming again, and at that time all things will be made right. This is the great Christian hope.
We are partners in God's mission of restoration
While we wait for this, we have been given a really important job to do: live as followers (disciples) of Jesus, sharing the good news of Jesus with the world around us, and working for the good of our world.
