Our Vision:
Making disciples of Jesus, building for eternity
Our Convictions:
We have stability and certainty in our community of faith, and for our future together because:
Jesus Christ is the head of the church and we are sent into the world to be disciples of Jesus who make disciples of Jesus.
The Bible is God’s self-revelation of himself and his purposes for us and all creation, therefore it is our central and primary source for teaching and growing together as God’s people.
We are committed to be a place of safety and nurture, in which all people, regardless of their age or ability, can encounter the love of God in Christ.
Our Values:
Family
Just as Jesus recognised that his disciples were his family (Matthew 12:49), we too affirm the church as an intentional gathering of the family of God. We aspire to be a place of welcome and nurture for all generations, and especially affirm the importance of welcoming Children and Young people into our community, whilst supporting and equipping parents in their discipleship.
“Whoever receives one such child in my name receives me, and whoever receives me, receives not me but him who sent me.” Mark 9:37
Love
The primary expression of our discipleship is in the love that we show to one another and to the community, just as Christ commanded.
“A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another: just as I have loved you, you also are to love one another. By this all people will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another.” John 13:34-35
Worshipping Community
Whenever we gather, we seek to express our community of faith through inspirational, inclusive worship that is relevant for today, and welcoming to all. We will, through teaching, sacrament and celebration, express the real impact of the gospel of Christ in our lives and this world. We are committed to sharing our lives under the Word of God as an inclusive community for mutual encouragement and growing in godliness in all areas of life.
“Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly; teach and admonish one another in all wisdom; and with gratitude in your hearts sing psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs to God.” Col 3:16
Service
We actively seek to develop the gifts of God within our community and provide opportunities for all members to serve one another.
“For you were called to freedom, brothers and sisters. Only do not use your freedom as an opportunity for the flesh, but through love serve one another.” Galatians 5:13
Innovation
We value and affirm the place of traditional expressions of Anglican worship, whilst we seek to be a people who innovate and are willing to take risks for the gospel. We commit ourselves to actively follow the leading of the Holy Spirit, even when it takes us out of our comfort zone.
“No one sews a patch of unshrunk cloth on an old garment. Otherwise, the new piece will pull away from the old, making the tear worse. And no one pours new wine into old wineskins. Otherwise, the wine will burst the skins, and both the wine and the wineskins will be ruined. No, they pour new wine into new wineskins.” Mark 2:21-22
Prayer
Prayer is both an expression of our ongoing dependence on God and a central part of the ongoing deepening of our relationship with him. We are committed to providing opportunities to pray regularly corporately, in small groups, and encouraging growth in personal prayer through regular teaching and training.
“Pray in the Spirit at all times in every prayer and supplication. To that end keep alert and always persevere in supplication for all the saints.” Ephesians 6:18
